I started out in the group by doing my Masters internship, but soon carried on pursuing a PhD. Here I'm especially interested in the interplay between the gut microbiome and its host via bacteria produced metabolites and their effect on gastrointestinal integrity and motility. For this project I will be using a novel ex vivo gut culture system which not only allows to study complex peristaltic movements, but also bacterial interactions on the mucus surface.
